Surulere Thrown Into The Dark As A Teenager was Buried Beside The Source Of Her Death

She was terminated by flood; that can’t be argued. But why should dead people be always buried beside the main object or sense of what has claimed their life?

It was reported that a girl was swept away after the heavy downpour of rain in Lagos. The incident took place on 22 of June 2020 in Surulere, where a teenage girl of 17years was tragically swept by the massive flood, which eventually led to her death.

However, the recovered remains of the corpse has been buried beside Surulere canal Onilegogoro.

The girl named Ayisat, has been laid to rest beside the Surulere canal. The the weird thing is, was that really necessary

There has been diverse cases of incidence, for example, like that of Julius Berger, the Nigerian great road Construction Engineer that died, and was buried beside a river in Ikorodu. With claims in air that his life was sacrificed for the river goddess so he could accomplish his mission of building bridge across it.

In another sense, and if only corpses could speak, their spirit wouldn’t have wanted to be laid to spend the rest of their spiritual enticement beside what took their lives from them.

Well it might be natural from the custom in African countries, but that is not the very best thing to do as a memorial to the victim’s departure. Instead, great tangible things are done to keep them forever in the hearts of there loved ones.

Like the whites would always erect a statue for physical representation of the bereaved and get their body perfectly laid at the cemetery.

Burying them beside such, objects might have its spiritual complications, but I don’t personally think it should be done that way, there are other options, instead their body should be carried far away from what actually ceased their life for them to perfectly rest in peace.
